Drew has a round race like Pace, a very mild personality, and is the longest of our babies. He is fair (not a Davis coloring) and we expect he will be blond and turn brown later. He has dark eyes. He sleeps well, is eating good and is very tolerant of being held every minute of the day by his siblings. (We almost need triplets to meet the demand)

Mom and Dad came up on Saturday to get peaches to bottle them for me. By that time I thought things were happening. Mom drove to Logan and back with Sadie and got back on Saturday night. My contractions had built all Saturday, but abruptly ended at 7pm. I woke up on Sunday morning at 3am with the real stuff and had Drew at 5:38am. After three weeks of false labor, actual labor only lasted 2 1/2 hours. Drew was born with no complications despite worrying us with lots of maconium and a non-variable heartrate with contractions. The midwife was wonderful to take care of me. It is still hard to go into a situation that you feel like is an impossibility especially in the middle of it. Mom took the kids to church on Sunday and brought them up to the hospital after to see if it was a boy or a girl. The boys are loving the results and Sadie is just happy to have a baby.

Can you believe what an amazing and dedicated mother we have. I love you Mom!!! On Monday she went home in time to give a luncheon to the DUP at her house, can peaches for me, and work at the temple on Tuesday and Wednesday. Keith is home for a couple of days, I am trying to set a goal of being in my PJs for 2 weeks despite feeling so good, and Mom will be back at the end of the week.

First Day

Maren sent this letter to her good friend who moved out of town this summer about her first day of kindergarten. They were in preschool together and looking forward to kindergarten. It was so cute, I had to share it.

At school we went to an assembly. An assembly is something that you have to sit and listen to what someone is saying. And today our assembly was about introducing teachers. I couldn't have Mrs. Barney because she moved to Alaska. So my teacher's name is Miss Karr. The boys were crying in school because they were really scared. I made a friend but I don't know her name. I think there is only three girls in my class. Most of the time I had to sit at the carpet.

How many girls do you have? Did any boys cry? I hope it was fun at your school. I hope you like my letter.

First Day

Sadie's First Day of Kindergarten was a great success. She knows the school a little too well since our volunteer work in the past. Here she is with her teacher Mrs. Harkness. Davis is a little lonely and asks, "Who is my teacher?" and "What day do I go to school?"

Camping at 39 weeks

Keith was nice enough to set aside a weekend for us after all of the ward camps this summer and we went to Tillery Lake in Teton National Forest. The kids had a great time with Grandpa's canoe and kyak and we ate a perfect upside down cake thanks to Grandpa.

Visit to Harper Farm in Topaz

No buildings left-just a hand pump and a few trees but the railroad and Portneuf River still run east and west further down the road.

The newest employee...

I'm almost at the end of my fourth shift here at my new job at Primary Children's Medical Center. So far, it's been what I hoped - interesting, not too stressfull, challenging at times and rewarding. Today, I'm woking in the Rapid Treatment Unit (RTU), a hospital unit just off the ED where children are admitted if we expect that they'll stay shorter than a day. So far, I've seen children with seizures who we're monitoring overnight, children who need IV fluids because of bad vomiting and diarrhea and a few kids with infections that need IV antibiotics. The ED has been fairly busy on the two days I was there, full of kids with summertime viruses (sore throats, stomach pain, etc), cuts and scrapes (if you've seen my first aid kit, you know I love to suture) and bumps and bruises. Most of my day is spent seeing children, coordinating care with the nurses, suturing wounds, monitoring kids that need sedation (so we can cast broken bones or suture cuts in awkward places) and communicating with the other hospital teams.

Underwear Man!!!

Davis potty trained himself this week (day and night). He has a very happy mother!! And don't be jealous, because Heavenly Father's kindness must be shining upon me. It has never gone so smooth. In fact this tired mom was looking toward age 4 to start.
